Clinical Study on Percutaneous Knowles Pinning of the Femoral Neck Fracture

Abstract
|
|
|
45 cases of femoral neck fracture were treated with percutaneous knowles pinning under image intensifier from April, 1971 to May, 1974, and presente3 at Department of Orthopedic Surgery, College of Medicine, Korea University,
The results were as following;
1. 24 cases(53%) were male and 21 cases (47%) were female, 69% of all cases were observed over 60 years of age group.
2. cause of fracture were predominantly 24 cases (53%) by fall down, 19 cases (42%) by traffic acc:dznt, 2 cases (5%) by pathological fracture.
3. site of fracture were 5 cages (11%) in subca.pital, 23 cases (51%) in transcervical, 17 cases (3g%) in base of femoral neck.
4. 16 cases (3~ %) associated other fracture and 10 cases (32 %) with pre-existing disease.
5. 42 cases of 45 cases were functionally and roentgenologically good results.
6. 1 case of 45 cases was observed a mild aseptic necrosis femoral head, and 2 cases revealed loosening of knowles pinning.
